Vice President for Advancement

Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY, is seeking a dynamic Vice President for Advancement to serve as both a strategic leader and hands-on fundraiser. The VP for Advancement must have progressive leadership experience in higher education or nonprofit fundraising with broad knowledge of best practices and principles of modern philanthropy.

The position requires an energetic, highly engaged, collaborative, forward-thinking leader with the ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with alumni, donors, internal constituents, church, ecumenical, and denominational partners to support LTS’ mission and strategic imperatives.

This position combines operational leadership, fundraising responsibilities, strategic planning, and cultivating partnerships. The Vice President plays a critical role in building and strengthening the Seminary’s fundraising and outreach operations while fostering and promoting a sustainable and mature culture of generosity.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in higher education or nonprofit development. Experience and understanding of theological education and the constituencies who support it is important.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong knowledge of comprehensive fundraising strategies, including major and principal gifts, annual giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, and prospective research. This is a full-time position based in Lexington, KY, reporting to the President.
